I have organized and hosted many food events in the past few years. However, this was my very first beer and cheese tasting event held at The Bruery Provisions… and it was a smashing success! This was a private event due to the space limitations of the venue. I had to cap the event to 20 people. There was even a waitlist for this event. THANK YOU to The Bruery Provisions for helping me host this event and come up with a special menu of beer and cheeses (plus the brittle) specifically for our group. Another THANK YOU to Pop Candy for the wonderful brittle with a kick. You guys were right! It tasted great with the beer! Lastly, THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the event and for your feedback!
For those of you who missed it or couldn’t attend, don’t worry… I will be hosting this event once a quarter. Keep a look out for info on my next beer & cheese tasting in late March or early April. =) However, in the meantime, I will be hosting more food/restaurant events soon so follow me on Twitter and Facebook for updates if you aren’t already.
Beer Flight
- Orchard White – Belgian style witbier. This was my favorite one from the flight. Light and crisp. 5.7% ABV
- Saison De Lente – A light blonde Spring Saison. 6.5% ABV
- Loakal Red - First beer brewed with California ale yeast from The Bruery. This is the only one available in Orange County. 6.9% ABV
- Rugbrod - Julebryg-style strong brown ale. 8% ABV
- Old Richland – Barley wine that is very hoppy. 9% ABV
- Ibores - A goat cheese from Spain rubbed with olive oil and paprika.
- St. Agur – A creamy bleu cheese that was very delicious and very spreadable. I couldn’t get enough of this one.
- Geitost - Scandanavian caramel flavored cheese.
- Pop Candy Pistachio Fire – I loved this so much when I first tried it at the International Wine Festival that I had to have more. So I invited them to this event. Thank you to Pop Candy for giving us some samples of your wonderfully tasty brittle with a little bit of heat. It paired beautifully with the beers.
